Bat Grocery List
BCI requests help to cover the increasing costs of feeding and caring for our Goodwill Ambatsadors. This small colony of six straw-colored flying foxes loves fruit, and lots of it. Their upkeep costs BCI about $200 a month or nearly $2,500 annually. Gifts of $200 for a month's supply of fruit and supplements would be much appreciated.
BCI's primary traveling tabletop exhibit has been used at a variety of conferences nationwide for more than four years, educating thousands with impressive glossy photos and bat facts. Frequent travel has taken its toll on the photos, however. If you can help replace the nine glossy prints, please send a contribution of any amount ($49 each, or $440 for all nine photos).
A new multimedia projector is a must for BCI staff who train our members and other conservationists at workshops and wildlife conferences and who teach essential bat facts at public lectures. In addition to providing exceptional image quality, a Philips Hopper SV20 projector will allow us to download hundreds of lecture templates, images, clip art, and sound clips in conjunction with our laptop computer. Unfortunately, with a price tag of $3,200, this type of superior equipment is no minor expense. A donation to help BCI purchase one of these much-needed projectors would be greatly appreciated.
BCI extends special thank yous to Harry Stephens of Hallsville, TX, for his generous contribution toward new mist nets; to Rhonda Zimmerman of Charlotte, MI, for her donation to our traveling bat house exhibit; and to David D. Williams and Kimberley Hunt of Key Largo, FL, for providing BCI with a one-year on-line subscription to the Foundation Directory.
