New BCI Board Members

BCI is proud to have made three outstanding additions to our board of trustees over the past year: J. David Bamberger, Scott McVay, and Sharon R. Pitcairn.

David Bamberger is president of Entre Nous Investments and co-founder and former chairman of Church's Fried Chicken. He operates a 6,200 acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country dedicated to environmental education, conservation, and research. His ranch, in partnership with AAZPA (American Association of Zoological Parks Administration), rescued the scimitar horned oryx from extinction and now is home to the world's largest and only genetically pure herd. Bamberger is also a member of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Private Lands Advisory Board and the Committee on Arid Land Antelopes, a sub-committee of IUCN's Species Survival Commission. He also serves on the board of the San Antonio Zoological Gardens and Aquarium.

Scott McVay is executive director of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and serves on the boards of the World Resources Institute, the W. Alton Jones Foundation, and others. He has published 25 scientific papers and popular articles about whales in leading American magazines and journals. He received the 1973 Albert Schweitzer Award for leadership in whale conservation.

Sharon Pitcairn is director of the Africa Program for Conservation International and has traveled extensively in pursuit of her conservation interests.
