BCI Members Win Conservation Awards

BCI congratulates two members who recently received conservation awards. David Saugey, a wildlife biologist at the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas, received an Arkansas Wildlife Federation Award for his work in wildlife management. His programs on bats are among the most popular in area school systems, and due to his efforts, abandoned mines are now gated to protect bats and other wildlife in the Ouachita National Forest.

John W. Hanes, Jr. from Alexandria, Virginia was named one of the 1990 winners of the prestigious Chevron Conservation Award. He spearheaded the "Conserve Virginia Campaign" to protect 36 new natural areas.
